Attendance

The Strive for 95% program aims to promote excellent attendance and a strong commitment to giving 95% effort in all academic and extracurricular activities. Regular attendance and consistent effort are critical to student success and personal growth.

  1. Attendance Goal:

    • Every student is expected to attend school at least 95% of the time. This equates to missing no more than nine days in a 180-day school year.

  2. Effort and Engagement:

    • Students are encouraged to give 95% of their effort in all aspects of their school life, including academics, extracurricular activities, and social interactions.

Attendance Guidelines:

  1. Excused Absences:

    • Absences due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or religious observances will be considered excused. Parents or guardians must provide a note or contact the school to explain the absence.

  2. Unexcused Absences:

    • Absences without a valid reason or proper notification will be considered unexcused. Repeated unexcused absences may lead to interventions and potential disciplinary action.

  3. Tardiness:

    • Students are expected to arrive at school on time. Frequent tardiness disrupts learning and can impact overall attendance percentages.

Interventions and Support:

  1. Monitoring Attendance:

    • The school will monitor attendance regularly. Parents and guardians will be notified if a student’s attendance falls below the 95% threshold.

  2. Attendance Interventions:

    • Students with attendance issues will be supported through meetings with parents or guardians, guidance counselors, and teachers to develop an action plan for improvement.

  3. Celebrating Success:

    • Students who meet or exceed the 95% attendance goal and demonstrate consistent effort will be recognized and celebrated through various school initiatives, such as certificates, awards, and special events.

Responsibilities:

  1. Students:

    • Attend school regularly and on time.

    • Give 95% of effort in all school-related activities.

    • Communicate with teachers and parents about any issues affecting attendance or effort.

  2. Parents/Guardians:

    • Ensure their child attends school regularly and on time.

    • Notify the school of any absences and provide the necessary documentation.

    • Support their child in maintaining high effort levels in all activities.

  3. School Staff:

    • Monitor and track student attendance.

    • Provide support and interventions for students with attendance or effort issues.

    • Communicate with students and parents about attendance expectations and celebrate successes.

By striving for 95% attendance and effort, we aim to create a positive and productive learning environment for all students at Emmet Belknap Intermediate School. Together, we can ensure that every student reaches their full potential.
