Emmet Belknap Intermediate School
At Emmet Belknap Intermediate School, we are dedicated to helping students reach their fullest potential. Named after Emmet Belknap, an inspiring educator and advocate for lifelong learning, our school embraces his vision by fostering a community of growth and excellence.
Emmet Belknap was known for his unwavering commitment to student development and his belief in the transformative power of education. His legacy guides our mission to create an environment where every student can strive to be their best. In 1889 he became the superintendent of Lockport schools, a post he held for over 30 years. While he was superintendent, Kindergarten classes began; monthly report cards began to be issued; summer school classes were introduced; and new classes in physical education and domestic science were started.
Our focus at Emmet Belknap Intermediate is encapsulated in our campaign: "Striving for 95%." This initiative emphasizes effort and commitment rather than numerical grades. It's not about scoring a 95% or being the top of the class; it's about putting forth 95% effort in attendance, participation, and personal growth. We ask our students, "What is your 95?"—encouraging them to define and pursue their personal best in all aspects of school life.
At Emmet Belknap, we believe that striving for 95% means always putting in your best effort, being present, and continuously working towards becoming the best version of yourself. This approach ensures that every student feels valued and motivated, understanding that success is a personal journey.
Join us at Emmet Belknap Intermediate School, where we inspire and support each other in our quest for personal excellence. Together, we strive for 95%, fostering a community where everyone is encouraged to do their best and grow every day.
