Women Who ROAR

Recognizing Outstanding Achievements and Resilience

The Lockport City School District is now accepting nominations for the second annual “Women Who ROAR” awards. These awards honor women within the community and young women from Lockport schools who demonstrate outstanding achievements and resilience. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, February 14, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

Award recipients will be announce at the end of February 2025. An awards luncheon will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Lockport High School, celebrating honorees who embody leadership, advocacy, and community service.

2024 ROAR award recipients included:

• Keah Brown, American disability rights activist, author, journalist, and writer

• Kathy Granchelli, Retired YWCA CEO

• Marion Hannigan, LCTV Host

• Erika Kastel, LCSD Strategic Planning Committee Member

• Martha Kershaw, Associate Professor and Chair of Nursing at the Scott Bieler College of Health Professions, Daemen University

• Kathleen Lewis, Civil Engineer, US Army Corps of Engineers

• Student representatives from each Lockport City School district building
