Please see the following letter from Dr. Calvin regarding a non-credible threat at Aaron Mossell Junior High School. This letter will be sent momentarily to AMJHS staff and then to AMJHS parents and guardians.
December 20, 2024
Dear Aaron Mossell Junior High School Parents and Guardians,
Early this afternoon, the district received information that one of our Aaron Mossell JHS students made comments to other students that could be perceived as a potential threat. In response, we immediately initiated an investigation in collaboration with local law enforcement.
Following a thorough review, the Lockport City Police Department determined that there is no credible threat to the school or its community.
Please be assured that the district treats all concerns of this nature with the utmost seriousness. We are committed to conducting comprehensive investigations and enforcing our code of conduct to maintain the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
We urge all parents and/or legal guardians to speak with their child(ren) about the importance of avoiding statements, gestures, and behavior that could be interpreted as threatening. Even casual remarks can lead to unnecessary concern and must be handled carefully.
We are grateful to the Lockport City Police Department for their quick response and continued collaboration.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Principal Dr. Kathleen Bailey for further information at 716-478-4700.
Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
