Report Cards K-4

Dear Families,

We are excited to share that starting with the 2024-25 school year, we have introduced a new standards-based report card for our K-4 elementary students. This redesigned report card focuses on clearly communicating each student’s individualized growth and progress toward meeting New York State learning standards.

Learning standards provide a framework for what children should know and be able to do at each grade level, guiding their academic progress throughout the year. It is natural for students to begin the year performing at Level 1 or Level 2, especially in literacy, as they work toward meeting grade-level expectations. Levels 3 and 4 indicate proficiency in ELA and Math. This year, teachers and students are also acclimating to the newly adopted Benchmark Advance curriculum. To support this transition, numerical grades will not be assigned in the overall literacy sections of the report card for the first trimester. Instead, a + or - will reflect your child’s strengths and areas for growth. These standards are designed to be mastered by the end of the school year, with progress being made through consistent teaching and revisiting of key concepts.

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, December 12, 2024, along with a Report Card Guide for Families (Grades K-4) to help you better understand the new format. Your child’s report card will also be available on your parent portal as well.

For your convenience, the guide is also available online:
