College Level Courses (AP, SUNY, NU)

Advanced Placement (AP), State University of New York (SUNY), and Niagara University (NU) courses have very strict and specific requirements, deadlines, and potential financial implications.

These are considered to be college level courses, in which students can possibly earn a higher multiplier used for determining overall GPA.   Each course has a Summer Work Requirement (Summer Work Letter).   Throughout the school year, students should expect 1 to 2 hours of home study for every hour spent in class.  Students will be expected to learn material outside of class as well as in class.

Pre Registration:

Please complete the pre-registration form for any College Level course by June 16th.   This is to be completed before you start your course work.  College Level Pre-Registration Form

State University of New York (SUNY) and Niagara University:

Enrollment with the University and payment will be done directly through the course instructor (LHS Teacher).  Information will be provided at the beginning of the course with payment information and deadlines.

Advanced Placement Exam (AP Exam)

Students enrolled in AP classes have the opportunity to take the AP Exam.  Taking the AP Exam is what earns you potential college credit (not just the class itself).  Each college or university individually determines what score is necessary (one college may accept a score of 3 (out of 5), while another might require a 4).  This year the cost of the exam is $110 and is paid online through a third party website called Total Registration   www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/332870 A reduced exam fee is offered for students/families that qualify for free/reduced lunch.  Students will note this in their Total Registration enrollment.

Students will also be required to enroll with the College Board https://www.collegeboard.org/ to access course material (regardless if they will take the AP exam or not).

Finally, please be aware of the following VERY IMPORTANT deadlines that will be coming in the following weeks.
